I did my best but where did I go wrong?

First of all, Congratulations to those who have made it. Has been a splendid month since so many of you achieved your dreams in July. Unfortunately there are also a lot of you who did not pass and that is why I am writing this article. I know it must be depressing and you are disappointed especially those who have tried many many times.

With that being said, it’s ok to fail so long you gain experience and learn from your mistakes. Though I am quite lucky getting in in my first attempt, I always believe that in every success, you have to go through failure first to be “wiser”.

When those who fail msg me in FB chat, I am sure you will notice that I will always ask you, where did you go wrong? Which part of the day you think you did good or bad? It is important to identify which mistakes you did and find a solution to it as to not to repeat it again the next round. For example, if the interviewers ask you a question that you are not able to answer, make sure you find out the answer after the interview. Who knows, you are lucky and they may ask you the same question again next time.

If you keep doing the same thing, you will get the same results or if you do what you’re expected to do, don’t expect an outstanding result, my friend.

Study successful people and you’ll sure to discover one thing that many of them would have in common… they live by that words of “always do more than what is expected of you.”

I have readers who ask me when the next interview is or what do I know about the airline that they are applying. To me that is just plain laziness. If you can come to Fly Gosh, that means you are able to search for info. I even have some who ask me to show them the link or everything they wanted to know. I ask them why, they said cause it save their time and they are lazy to click. Well, I am in the business of helping people who work hard to achieve their dreams, not a nanny in school spoon feeding you. Maybe elsewhere but definitely not in Fly Gosh and wasting my time. If you come with this attitude, I am seriously worried on how you gonna pass the interview and get the job considering that you will be competing with so many other competent candidates.

So whatever you do in life be it your career, relationship, your dreams, always do more than expected. It is not that you have to do or give a whole lot more, you just have to do a little bit more than the rest.

To do this, it’s not difficult. But most people are just too lazy to put in the effort. I’m one of them but I’ll always keep reminding myself this– winner’s takes all. There is no second place, my friend. I would rather strive with the extra effort to get #1 because the payoff is many times greater.

Do you remember who the second best squash player is? Nope. You can remember Nicol David because she’s #1. In fact, as far as I know, there’s no such place as ‘the second best squash player’

I am actually doing this in Fly gosh also and helping all of you. As the other saying goes- you have to give, in order to get. Whether it is for Fly Gosh or when I go to any interview, I always make sure I do more and aim to be the best.

Do you think you can do more than what you’re doing today? Of course you can. The question is… DO YOU WANT IT OR NOT? You’ll have to decide for your own future on that.

Susi Air Pilot Recruitment - C208 Fist Officer ( 2015 )

Susi Air will receive any pilot application all year long but only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interview or intake when necessary depends on company needs.

Susi Air is adopting the regulations of Indonesian Directorate General of Civil Aviation as the basic requirement for employment and adds up with other company's requirements.

CAT 1. For Indonesian Passport Holder with Indonesian License:
  1. CPL holder
  2. Hold a First Class medical (current or not).
  3. Hold an FAA license or has minimum 750 hours.
  4. Copy of logbook in the last three months with verification stamp or signature from chief pilot or flight instructor.
  5. Minimum of level 5 ICAO English proficiency test.
  6. Comprehensive CV
  7. ID (KTP or Passport)
  8. For non Ab-Initio/ experienced pilot must attached an accident and incident-free report from DGCA.

CAT 2. For Indonesian Passport Holder with Non-Indonesian License:
  1. All requirements on CAT 1
  2. Foreign license must be current on SEL and IR
  3. Have a copy of examiner's report or check form of the latest flight review/ flight test/ re-validation/ proficiency check and still valid for at least 6 months.
  4. License verification letter with current information from authority AND accident/incident-free report from authority is a must

CAT 3. For Non-Indonesian Passport Holder:

  1. Minimum total hours of 750 aircraft time.
  2. at least ICAO CPL SEL and IR (current). FAA mother license is preferable.
  3. Have a copy of examiner's report or check form of the latest flight review/ check ride/ proficiency check of the SEL rating and still valid for at least 6 months.
  4. First Class medical (current), no restriction except for corrective glasses.
  5. License verification letter with current information from authority AND accident and incident-free report from authority.
  6. Copy of logbook in the last three months with verification stamp or signature from chief pilot or flight instructor.
  7. Free from any form of color blindness and passed the Ishihara Color Test - Indonesian authority only accept the Ishihara Color Blind Test.
  8. Minimum of level 5 ICAO English proficiency test.
  9. Valid passport minimum 24 months left
  10. Comprehensive CV

Responsibilities 


To attend pre-flight briefing, during which Flight Attendant are assigned their working positions for the upcoming flight

To carrying out pre-flight duties, including checking the safety equipment, ensuring the aircraft is clean and tidy, ensuring that information in the seat pockets is up to date and that all meals and stock are on board

To welcome passengers on board and directing them to their seats;

To inform passengers of the aircraft safety procedures and ensuring that all hand luggage is
securely stored away;

To check all passenger seat belts and galleys are secure prior to take-off;

Make announcements on behalf of the pilot and answering passenger questions during
the flight;

To performs sales on meal & duty-free goods and advising passengers of any allowance

Reassuring passengers and ensuring that they follow safety procedures correctly in emergency
situations;

Ensure passengers disembark safely at the end of a flight and checking that there is no
luggage left in the overhead lockers; completing paperwork, including writing a flight report

We will be conducting a recruitment exercise for cabin crew in Thailand. If you meet the following requirements, we will be pleased to receive your application.


Requirements

* Minimum age of 18 years old
* Females who are at least 1.58m in height
* University degree holder
* High level of English proficiency (Minimum TOEIC score of at least 600 or TOEFL score of at least 500)
* Preference will be given to candidates who are able to speak foreign languages or are experienced in customer service

Training

If you make it through our rigorous selection process, you will undergo about 4 months of training. On successful completion of training, you will commence flying duties.

A320 Direct Entry First Officer - 3 Year Job Contract ( Rated with zero or low hours on type accepted )

An A320 operator base in Asia ( National Airline ) would like to invite suitable candidates for the position of A320 First Officer. You will be provided with a 3 year job guaranteed contract subject to you passing the selection process.

Employment Benefits : -

  • Salary : USD 3500
  • Min 50 hours per month
  • Medical Insurance

Air Asia X - Cabin Crew/Flight Attendant salary and benefits

Commercial Flights Pay Scheme

Commercial flights are the scheduled flights that
depart from KUL. ( Can be seen on Air Asia booking page ) 

1.Basic Salary
FA RM 1000
SFA RM Vary***
Purser RM Vary***+ RM200 Purser Allowence

***Depends on years served.

2.Flight Pay ( Per Hour )

FA RM 26 ( RM12+BONUS RM14 If no MC )
SFA RM 34   ( RM16+BONUS RM18 If no MC )
Purser RM 34 ( RM16+BONUS RM18 If no MC )

How to qualify for Bonus?
  • Good attendance.
  • Zero misconducts in the month.
  • No late sign ONs ( more than twice )
  • 60 Flying hours and above. ( for the month )

3.Sector Allowance

FA/SFA RM 20 per sector. Eg. KUL-MEL-KUL is 2xRM20= RM 40
Purser RM 50 per sector.

4.Commission - varies from RM300~700 per month

5.Nightstop Allowance - Number of hours staying x Destination's base value

Australia ( PER,MEL,SYD,OOL ) RM300
Korea, Japan ( KIX,NRT,HND,ICN,PUS ) RM300
China ( PEK ) RM250
Middle Eeast ( Jeddah ) RM250

A)Stay 0~24 Hours 1X Base Value
B)Stay 24:01~30 Hours 1.25X Base Value
C)Stay 30:01 ~ 36 Hours 1.5X Base Value
D,E,F... Consecutively increase by 0.25X per every 6 hours more

Example PER ( Perth ) Stay total 34 Hours 20 Minutes
So, it falls into category C
Perth Nightstop Allowance would be 1.5X RM300 = RM450

Please do take note that not all flights are Nightstop flights in Air Asia X,
We do have Turnaround Stations where nightstop allowance does not apply.

Turnaround Stations - PVG ( Used to be Nightstop )
HGH, CMB, TPE, CKG, CTU, XIY and KTM.

What is the average salary of a normal FA in Air Asia X?
It could go lowest at RM4000+ to highest RM7000+ Depends on your flying patterns.

For instance, You've got these 8 flights in a month.

1. KUL-CTU- KUL ( Chengdu Turnaround )
  Per sector  4 Hours 30 Minutes

2. KUL-SYD-KUL ( Sydney Nstop with 23Hours )
 Per sector  8 Hours 30 Minutes

3. KUL-KIX-KUL ( Osaka Nstop with 28 Hours  1.25X*** )
 Per sector 6 Hours 30 Minutes

4. KUL-TPE-KUL ( Taipei Turnaround )
Per sector 4 Hours 30 Minutes

5. KUL-CMB-KUL ( Colombo Turnaround )
Per sector 3 Hours 30 Minutes

6. KUL-ICN-KUL ( Incheon Nstop with 22 Hours )
 Per sector 6 Hours 30 Minutes

7. KUL-OOL-KUL ( Gold Coast Nstop with 40 Hours Long Stay 1.75X )
Per sector 7 Hours 30 Minutes

8. KUL-MEL-KUL ( Melbourne Nstop with 23 Hours )  Per sector 8 Hours

1.Basic RM1000

2.Flight Pay = CTU 9 + SYD 17 + KIX 13 + TPE 9 +
        CMB 7 + ICN 13 + OOL 15 + MEL 16
Total Hours = 99 Hours x RM26 = RM2574

3.Sector Allowance
 = 8 Flights x 2(  regardless of nightstop or not ),
= 16 X RM 20 = RM 320

4. Commission of the Month = RM500

5.Nightstop Allowance
SYD RM300,
KIX RM375 ( 300 X 1.25)
ICN RM300
OOL RM525 ( 300 X1.75 )
MEL RM 300
Total Nightstop Allowances = RM 1800

Total Salary : RM1000+RM2574+RM320+RM500+RM1800
= RM 6194 ( Before EPF ) 

After EPF X0.89 = RM5512.66

This is an example of a good roster pay.

Charter Flights Pay Scheme

Charter flights are flights where a company or group charters our aircraft for private uses,
they are also known as golden flights as the pay is relatively high compared to
some other KUL based airlines.

In Air Asia X, the A340 is usually used to operate the flights as mentioned above.
If out of occupancy, the A330 will also be used for charter purposes.

Selection of crew to participate charter flights is basically based on
  • Crew who fly more than 6 months or a year ( Depends on the project )
  • NIL Experience of Charter ( Priority to those who haven't
    experience charter before- fair play )
  • A340 or A330 Qualified
  • Excellent performance, Healthy KPI score
Type of charters in Air Asia X -Tunisia Charter- Ferry flight ( with no passenger ) from KUL to TUN
Operation) TUN-MED/JED and some other flights

Algeria Charter - Ferry flight from KUL to ALG .
Normal Operation
  • 1) ALG - ORY/CDG/ Paris Turnaround or Layover 
  • 2) ALG - TUN/CMN/CAI Turnaround
  • 3) ALG - CZL - JED  Nightstop
  • 4) ALG- JED Nightstop

Caracas Charter - Ferry flight from KUL to MAD then based in CCS .
Normal Operation - Fixed Aircraft Pattern
Aircraft is based in Caracas, Venezuela and flies to only 2 destinations 
  •  MAD, Spain ( Madrid )
  •  EZE, Argentina ( Buenos Aires )

Other than this, there is also Jeddah Charter, Flynas Charter and so on,
which the destinations sometimes change. 

Now, the important part, yes, the pay.

The pay, we call it 1.Charter Allowance is a fixed rate of RM300 per day
when you are outbase. ( not in KL )

Regardless you fly or not, you will be paid RM300 everyday.
 
Let's say there is 31 Days in May, you will be paid 31 X RM300 = RM9300

Isn't it amazing? There is no free lunch in this world though.

Since you're being paid this high, you have to fly as per usual as in KL. 

The charter allowance is the same for all types of charters.

Other than this, each charter has its own 2. Fixed flight allowance, for instance, Algeria charter, you will be paid at a fixed rate 60 hours X your flight pay
according to ur rank.
Eg. 60 X RM26 = RM1560 for normal FA
If you fly less or more than 60 hours, you will still get 60 hours pay!

To conclude this charter pay scheme,

you will also get your 3.Basic salary as usual !

It means RM9300+RM1560+RM1000 = RM11860 Before EPF!

On top of this, you don't have to pay for any rental/ accommodation.
Crew will get a twin sharing room with same gender.
For some destinations, you can get ur own room, like in Jeddah and Buenos Aires.

The chance is rare, it doesn't happen all year time.

What I've mentioned above (charter flights) is uncertain as the pay scheme always changes.

Annual Leaves - Depends on years of service, regardless of rank.

Less than 2 years - 12 Days

2 to 5 years - 16 Days

5 years and above - 22 Days

Minimum requirements:
  • University access test passed
  • EASA Frozen ATPL
  • MCC certificate
  • Class 1 medical certificate

Singapore Airlines - Cabin Crew Recruitment ( Walk in interview - Singapore & Malaysia )

We will be conducting a recruitment exercise for Flight Stewardesses/Stewards in Singapore and Malaysia. If you meet the following requirements, we will be pleased to meet you at our walk-in interview.

Requirements

*Singapore and Malaysian citizen
* Minimum age of 18 years old* Females who are at least 1.58m; males who are at least 1.65m in height
*Completed, are exempted from, or are not liable for National Service. Those in the process of completing NS (ORD before January 2016) may also apply.
*Degree/Diploma (those who are graduating before January 2016 may also apply if they have any of the two educational qualifications below.)
OR
*At least 2 GCE 'A'-level  (H2 level) credits and 2 'AO'-level (H1 level) credits including General Paper in the GCE 'A'-level examination
OR
*At least 5 GCE 'O'-level credits including English and working experience
* For Malaysian qualifications at SPM level, at least 5 credits including a minimum grade of B4 in English and working experience is required.

Training

Our comprehensive 4 months training program will cover topics such as:
* Product Knowledge including Food & Beverage
* Service Procedures
* Passenger Handling
* Deportment & Grooming
* Language & Communication Skills
* Safety Equipment Procedures
* First Aid
On successful completion of training you will commence flying duties.

Remuneration & Service Benefits

You will be paid a basic salary during training. Upon graduation, you can look forward to a basic salary and various allowances amounting to about SGD$3,500 a month. In addition, there is an annual wage supplement of one month’s basic salary and profit-sharing bonus. You will also be entitled to free travel to any SIA destination once a year and enjoy discounted travel at other times.
