Requirements

* Singaporean or Malaysian citizen
* Minimum age of 18 years old due to legislative requirements
* Fulfil the minimum height requirement of at least 1.58m for females and 1.65m for males in order to carry out safety and emergency procedures onboard
* Degree / Diploma (those who are graduating before May 2018 may also apply if you have any of the two educational qualifications below)
OR
*At least 2 GCE 'A'-level  (H2 level) credits and 2 'AO'-level (H1 level) credits including General Paper in the GCE 'A'-level examination
OR
*At least 5 GCE 'O'-level credits including English and working experience

Training

Our comprehensive 4 months training program will cover topics such as:

* Product Knowledge including Food & Beverage
* Service Procedures
* Passenger Handling
* Deportment & Grooming
* Language & Communication Skills
* Safety Equipment Procedures
* First Aid

On successful completion of training you will commence flying duties.

Remuneration & Service Benefits

You will be paid a basic salary during training. Upon graduation, you can look forward to a basic salary and various allowances amounting to about SGD$4,500 - 5000  a month. In addition, there is an annual wage supplement of one month’s basic salary and profit-sharing bonus. You will also be entitled to free travel to any SIA destination once a year and enjoy discounted travel at other times.

Successful candidates must be able to commence employment with us within six months from the date of application.

Role Purpose

To be cleared and endorsed by DCA on type rating training on B737 as a Co-pilot

Key Accountability 

The Co-pilot is the Commander’s deputy and is a member of the flight crew acting in piloting capacity, other than Commander.

When the Commander is absent or becomes incapacitated, the Co-pilot assumes the Commander’s authority and the responsibility. 

Responsibly participate in the preparation of the flight and to attentively monitor the progress of the flight in order to be able to assume this authority/responsibility at any given moment, either by the Commander’s direction or when necessitated by the Commander’s incapacitation.

The Co-pilot shall assist the Commander in the management of the flight and the manipulation of the aircraft controls in accordance with the directions of the Commander and approved AFM.

Qualification & Experience

SPM - Pass SPM or its equivalent qualification recognized by Malaysian government with six (6) credits including Bahasa Malaysia and a minimum of B4/C4 in Mathematics, Physics or General Science and English taken at one seating. 
Diploma - Possess Diploma / Degree in Engineering or Science related disciplines with CGPA 3.0 and above and six credits with a pass in Bahasa Malaysia in SPM. 
i. A Malaysian National.
ii. Possess Frozen ATPL
iii. Age between 18 and 32 at date of selection.
iv. Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English both written and spoken.
v. Medically and physically fit with perfect eyesight and visual acuity of at least 6/60 without optical aids, correctable to 6/6 and not colour blind,
vi. Not less than 163cm (5 ft. 4 in.) in height,
vii. Prepared to undergo vigorous training up to twenty (20) months or until completion of Ab-initio training 

Skills & Knowledge 

• Knowledge of regulatory requirement and principles of flight. 
• Sound flying skills with knowledge of operations disciplines, specialised technical knowledge of current fleets in the system.
• Strong in interpersonal and communications skills, good analytical skill, and good at issue engagements.

Cathay Pacific is currently recruiting direct entry Second officers to be based in Hong Kong

Transition Training– a 6-week programme for global applicants with an ICAO ATPL, with a minimum of 1500 hours total time, including 500 hours multi-engine time with a MTOW greater than 2000kg.

Preference will be given to pilots with more than 500 hours experience on certified multi crew pressurised, turbine powered transport aircraft greater than 5700KG.

ATPL licences must have been issued with no exemption or conversion. Copies of ATPL results will need to be provided.

Transition Training are trained at Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) in Adelaide, South Australia. Training consists of technical ground school, HK ATPL subjects and flight training. Since there aren't many articles or posts regarding the interview process for MASwings, I decided to write one based on my personal experience having just attended one in Kuching very recently (on 21st Jan). I hope that my experience sharing will benefit future candidates and help them prepare in case they would want to attend a MASwings cabin crew interview in the future.

Before going for the interview, I searched and read articles and blog posts regarding the Malaysia Airlines cabin crew interview process, just to get a rough idea of how it will be for MASwings. It should be pretty similar since MASwings is a subsidiary of Malaysia Airlines Berhad.

The MASwings cabin crew interview that I attended wasn't an open walk-in interview, it was invitation by email. About a month or so before the interview, MASwings posted on their social media that they were recruiting. 

Interested candidates were instructed to apply online. Only shortlisted candidates would be notified via email. Now this is where you have to make a resume that impresses them. Since they will no doubt be filtering through hundreds of resumes, you want to make sure yours stand out or at least be good enough to be selected. If you have any experiences at all in customer service or even in the F&B industry, list it down! Write in your objective that you really want to give the best service you can to serve not only the airline but also for the passengers of Sabah and Sarawak.

After you've submitted your application, wait for the email. It will take about 2 weeks or more. The closing date for the application was 9th Jan. I submitted my application on the 8th and got the interview invitation email on the 18th. The interview was to be held on the 21st, so only less than 3 days to prepare!

I could tell you, once I received the interview invitation email, I was over the moon. 

D-day.
Arrived at the interview venue at 0815 and registration was scheduled to start at 0830. Already there were lots of people queuing up. Registration only actually started at 0945. We were brought up to a holding room where we were split into two groups to facilitate the flow as it was getting crowded.
The interview will have 5 stages:
1.    Height and weight check
2.    Document & credentials check
3.    Grooming
4.    Drilling
5.    Final

First stage, height and weight check.
The first stage is where you will see a lot of people start to disappear already. Your height and weight will be measured. After that, your BMI will be calculated on the spot. They were using an online BMI calculator. One person measures the height and weight, one person records it on your application slip and one person calculates the BMI and checks the boxes 'ACCEPTED' or 'REJECTED'. They will be looking for people with an average BMI. Those who are underweight or overweight will have the REJECTED box ticked and will be told 'sorry, you are underweight/overweight and have been rejected. 

You can try again next time.' And those people will be sent home straight away. My interview had around 130 candidates (if not mistaken). Out of 130++ people, only half or even less than that were left after the first stage. So my advice is if you are scared that you will be sent home at the first stage, calculate your BMI at home first. If you are under or over, don't waste your time. They are quite strict with little or no compromise at all. I calculated by BMI the night before and I got an average BMI so I was good to go.

Second stage, document & credentials check.

The second stage is pretty self-explanatory. They will check that you have the required SPM qualifications, full body photo, passport size photo, photocopy of IC and other necessary credentials. Please make sure to bring both original and photocopy of any documents you bring. Once you have all necessary documents, you will be given an employment application form to be filled up and returned to the desk. Otherwise, you will be sent home. Oh, and always make sure to bring a pen, stapler or glue to any flight attendant interview. 

They will hand out forms and some of those forms will require you to stick a passport size photo on it. For those with thick folders of qualifications and certificates, please do not bring all of them. If you have certificates related to customer service, first-aid or anything related to the job of a flight attendant then you may bring them. Otherwise please don’t bring folders that look like Yellow Pages. You don’t actually think the appraisers will have time to go through all of them, do you?

Third & fourth stage, grooming and drilling (combined).
The third stage will be the grooming stage. Probably the stage where even more people will be sent home as they are very strict at this stage. The grooming stage will be held at a different room and only 5 people will be called at one time to go down for the grooming stage. 2 will go into the room and the rest will wait outside. Unfortunate to say, this is the stage where I failed and was sent home. While waiting outside, you will be given an evaluation form and they will ask you to fill up your name, IC number and queue number. 

The rest will be filled by the appraiser (the person who checks/evaluates you.) It is a 5-6 page form. The first page will be the one where you fill in your name etc and the bottom of the page will be the final decision 'ACCEPTED' or 'REJECED' boxes as well as score by the appraiser. The rest of the pages will have sections devoted to almost all parts of the body with boxes under them. Each section will have 3 boxes saying 'YES' 'NO' and 'Reason for non-recommendation'. Beside the third box will be various reasons for non-recommendation. For example the Face section. Beside the third box you will find reasons like 'shape too broad/shape too long' etc. I'll let the pictures below do the talking.

For my interview, it seemed like the third and fourth stage (grooming and drilling) was combined. For those with pimples and red scars on the face and neck area, I'm so sorry but it's 95% confirmed you will be sent home no matter how stunning you may look all dressed up. For those with braces or crooked teeth, it's the same. It is brutal and you should prepare for the worst. 

To prepare for the drilling, (they MIGHT constantly shoot you questions after questions) read up on the role of a flight attendant, do some research on the company background, their fleet, their slogan, their key people etc. Show that you are interested in being apart of the company.

In the room there will be two tables, one at each end. At each table there will be two appraisers. For men wearing long sleeves, they will ask you to roll up your sleeves to check for any visible scarring, birth marks and tattoos. They will then ask you to loosen your tie and unbutton the top button and they will examine your neck area for scars, birthmarks and tattoos. After that they will sit and have a little chat with you. This is where you have to sell yourself. Interest them; make them curious to know more about you. 

Talk a lot and with confidence. And one important thing, don't forget to SMILE! Smile from the moment you enter the room. Smile all the way. Heck, smile for no reason at all! The longer they keep chatting with you, the better. Because it shows they are interested in you and they want to keep you to know more about you. They will be asking typical interview questions like 'tell me about yourself' or 'describe yourself' and all that. 

There will be a crew luggage bag near each table. You will be asked to walk from one end of the room and back while pulling along the bag. Just like a real flight attendant walking through the airport. So stand straight, chest forward, shoulders back and relaxed, eyes all the way forward with a SMILE and walk with confidence! At the end of that, you will be asked to wait outside for your results. Unfortunately mine was 'I'm sorry Mr. Xxx, you have been rejected. You may try again next time.'

Fifth and final stage.
Oh, how I wished I was among the lucky handful to have advanced to this stage. Unfortunately I can’t tell you what the final stage is like. But from a separate blog post detailing Malaysia Airlines cabin crew interview process, the final stage is supposed to be more relaxed. The remaining candidates will be separated into small groups and will be given topics to talk about. And maybe the appraisers will have a casual chat with you just to know you more. I assume it’s the same with 
MASwings. 

So even if I was not successful, I am still very grateful. Because I am one of 130 people who got the invitation email. Most people dream about it but do not get it yet I got it so I am thankful. I am thankful I passed the first 2 stages when so many people were sent home at that stage. I am thankful to have seen the standards they require so I know where I'm lacking and where I can still improve. 

Overall I'm grateful for the whole experience. For those who are reading this, those who went and are reading this and weren't successful, it's okay. Be thankful for all the little things. I am so thankful to be among the final 20-30 candidates left.

Entry Criteria

• Citizens of His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam
• Single
• Minimum of 18 up to 26 years of age at commencement of training
• Minimum height of 5 feet 2 inches (157.5 cm)
• Have a Body Mass Index of less than 35
• Able to pass an EASA GBR (UK) Medical
• Physically and mentally fit
• Be fluent in English (verbal and written)* and Bahasa Malayu
• Able to pass a security vetting for the issuance of airport passes
• Able to satisfy any immigration requirements for resident Flight Training in the United Kingdom and New Zealand**

For non-native English speakers, you will be required to present a certificate prior to training commencement demonstrating you have achieved International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Level 5.5 overall, with no less than 5.5 in any individual area (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking. (This must be the Academic test, not General Training).

Applicants who have previously obtained scholarships must declare details of such scholarships during initial application

Applicants must be able to demonstrate one of the following education prerequisites:

Option 1
• 6 GCE/GCSE "O" level grade B or above including English, Malay, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry
• Remaining subjects should be English based
• Prior aviation experience and / or qualifications (such as PPL or CPL) will be an advantage

Option 2
• 2 GCE/GCSE "A" level grade B or above including a Science and a Mathematics subject AND
• 4 GCE/GCSE "O" level Grade C or above in English, Malay, Mathematics and a Science
• Prior aviation experience and / or qualifications (such as PPL or CPL) will be an advantage

Option 3
• Higher National Diploma (HND) in either a Science and / or Maths based subject AND
• 5 GCE/GCSE "O" level Grade B or above including English, Malay, Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry. Remaining subjects should be English based OR
• Prior aviation experience and / or qualifications (such as PPL or CPL).

Option 4
• Bachelors degree (minimum 2/2) AND
• 2 GCE/GCSE "A" level grade C or above including a Science and a Mathematics subject OR
• 4 GCE/GCSE "O" level grade C or above in English, Malay, Mathematics and a Science OR
• Prior aviation experience and / or qualifications (such as PPL or CPL)

Selection

Your application will be screened by a member of the L3 Airline Academy selection team,

• Valid GACA AIP test with a minimum score of 80%.

To attend pre-flight briefing, during which Flight Attendant are assigned their working positions for the upcoming flight

• Fluency in written and spoken English and one of the following Asian languages: Cantonese, Mandarin, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Indonesian or Malay. European languages including French, German and Spanish would be an advantage. Proficiency in Mandarin is preferred

• Hold a valid Malaysian ATPL

• Minimum 5,000 total flying hours
• P1 1,500 hours Multi-pilot Aircraft or MPJ/EFIS/FMS above 20,000kgs and 500 hours on Airbus Fly By Wire Family

We invite suitable candidates with a strong interest in aviation to join us as Cadet Pilots

REQUIREMENTS

• Open to all Nationalities
• Minimum GCE 'A' Level, Polytechnic Diploma or Degree. In addition, you must demonstrate proficiency in English, Mathematics and Science, preferably Physics (with at least credits in GCE 'O' levels or its equivalent)
• For candidates without credits in English at GCE ‘O’ Levels or its equivalent, you must produce additional proof of English proficiency:
  o IELTS – Minimum Band 7 (out of 9); or
  o TOEFL – Minimum score: Computer based – 250, Paper Version – 600; or
  o Certificate of Completion for English Language Course
• Myopia of not more than 600 degrees and astigmatism of not more than 200 degrees per eye

TRAINING

Successful candidates will be trained to acquire either an Airline Transport Pilot’s License (ATPL) with Instrument Rating (IR) or a Multi-Crew Pilot License (MPL) at Pilot Training Schools in Singapore and overseas. Full board and lodging will be provided. Upon obtaining the ATPL or MPL, you will undergo further training to become a First Officer.

SELECTION PROCESS

All interviews will be held in Singapore. Applicants undergo five stages comprising online application, preliminary interview, aptitude test, final interview with senior management as well as a medical check-up.

REMUNERATIONS AND SERVICE BENEFITS

A monthly allowance will be provided during training. On appointment as a First Officer, you will enjoy a competitive salary along with various allowances and benefits.

EMPLOYMENT

Successful candidates will be offered an exciting career with extensive training, development and progression plans with one of the following companies:

• Singapore Airlines                   • SilkAir                        • SIA Cargo

BOND

Successful candidates will be required to serve SIA, SilkAir or SIA Cargo (as the case may be) for the duration of the training and for a period of 7 years from the date of appointment as First Officer.
